ALTHOUGH still unconfirmed by the European Tour......... Killarney looks set to lose it's bid to host the Irish Open for a third successive year and even the dogs in the street know at this stage that the event will move to a location on the east coast.
There's an old saying that's goes "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" and that's exactly what they are doing in my opinion. In writing this I am trying to be objective.

As a lover of links golf, I had always felt that our national championship should be played on one of our great links courses, but logistically they can be a nightmare.
Killarney on the other hand has everything in terms of hotels, facilities, ease of access, closeness to two airports and did I mention? One hell of a great parkland course in Killeen.

Having spoken to many people from all over the country in the past two years, Killarney was a favourite venue as people were building holidays and breaks around the event as there is so much to offer here in Kerry but no more.
